Therapy that has a plan — for people who are done managing their anxiety.
Structured, direct CBT & DBT for high-functioning adults who have tried therapy before and left still anxious. I work with clients who want real change, not better coping skills.
Does this sound like you?
You are likely a good fit for my practice if:
You are competent, capable, and high-functioning on the outside - and quietly exhausted by your own mind on the inside.
Your anxiety shows up as overthinking, perfectionism, running every scenario through your mind, or struggling to rest even when nothing is wrong.
You have tried therapy before. You left with some insight, maybe a few tools, and the uneasy feeling that you were essentially the same person when you walked out as when you walked in.
You are not looking for someone to sit quietly and nod. You want a therapist who will tell you what they are seeing and help you do something about it.
You are ready to actually change - not just vent, not just understand, not just cope.
If two or three of those landed, keep reading.
Why therapy may not have worked last time.
Most people who come to me have done therapy before. They liked their therapist. They learned the language. They can name their thought distortions and they know that self-care matters. And they are still anxious.
Here is what I have seen over and over again: when therapy does not stick, it is usually not because the client did not try hard enough. It is because the work stayed at the surface. Sessions became a weekly check-in. The conversation was good. The direction was unclear. Coping skills were offered, but nothing about the underlying pattern actually shifted.
If that is the therapy you have had, I understand why you stopped going. That kind of therapy is exhausting for people who are already hard workers. You put in the effort, and the needle does not move.
My work is different on purpose.
How I Work
Structured, not open-ended.
I practice from a CBT, DBT, somatic, and trauma-informed foundation, which means our work has a clear map. In our first sessions, we will identify what is actually driving your anxiety — not just the surface symptoms, but the underlying patterns holding it in place. From there, we build a plan. You will know what we are working on, why we are working on it, and what we are aiming for.
Active, not passive.
I am a direct therapist. I will ask real questions, name what I am noticing, and steer our sessions toward the work that matters. You will not come in every week unsure of what we are doing. That clarity is not a side benefit of how I practice — it is part of what makes the work effective.
Aiming for reduction, not management.
Most anxiety treatment sets the bar at “better coping.” I set it higher. The goal of our work is for your anxiety to actually be lower — not perfectly controlled, not well-managed, but quieter, and having less of a voice in your daily life. That is a bigger claim, and it is the one I am willing to make because it is what my clients tell me happens.
What We Will Work on Together
I work with adults on:
Generalized anxiety and chronic worry
Overthinking, rumination, and decision paralysis
Perfectionism and the pressure of high internal standards
The quiet burnout that comes from being “the capable one” for too long
About Me
I am Ashley Miller, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Oceanside, Oregon. I have been in practice for 10 years and I work exclusively with adults navigating anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, and trauma.
I trained at the University of Southern California (USC) and Portland State University (PSU) with speciality training in complex trauma, CBT, DBT, somatic-based therapeutic frameworks, and polyvagal theory. My work is grounded in somatic guided cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy because it gives my clients something most of them have been missing: a direction, a plan, and a partner who is actively invested in whether the plan is working.
Outside of the therapy room, I am out walking my dogs and spending time with family, friends, and helping local Veterans.
