Equine Assisted Therapy

  • What is Equine Assisted Therapy?

Horses are our non-biased, non-judgmental partners that are in the present moment to help us navigate our mental health and life challenges. This is on the ground and a non-riding experience with our four-legged partners.

  • Who is it for?

Equine Assisted Therapy is for anyone desiring an in person mental health session in Tillamook County, Oregon that has ever had trouble opening up about their challenges and would like something different from traditional talk therapy. No horse experience needed.

  • How does it work?

Equine assisted therapy begins with an initial consultation with me that can be in person or via Telehealth before ever meeting your equine partners. After treatment goals have been set, the journey of healing with the support of an equine partner can begin.

  • What does the research say?

Equine assisted therapy has been used for decades internationally and in the United States to help those with complex trauma process their mental health challenges and to heal and grow from depression, anxiety, PTSD, and ADHD.

  • What is my training?

I have been a lifelong horse owner and horses have been my personal therapist for as long as I can remember. In 2015, I became certified in Rodbaston, United Kingdom in the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) model. I have worked with dozens of clients in this capacity.

  • Does this work for Veterans?

Yes, Equine Assisted Therapy works for Veterans in ways traditional talk therapy has not.
